1.  Betsey, you’ve been with Champions for just over a year – can you tell us what is it about Champions School of Real Estate that you have enjoyed the most since joining the team?

From Day 1, I have been increasingly impressed with the synergy, support, and company culture that exists within Champions.  It is a blessing getting to work with wonderful people across the entire state of Texas each and every day, and I enjoyed meeting all of these coworkers at our annual state-wide Retreat in August. The teamwork and dedication within Champions is ever-present.I also enjoy the fast-paced work environment which continually keeps me on my toes, and the privilege of always learning something every day. It is fulfilling doing a good job and seeing it change students’ lives. Finally, I am so impressed with the high standards set within this company.

Walt Disney once said “Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again, and they will want to bring others to show them how well you do what you do.” I think this quote sums up Champions School of Real Estate’s success over the course of the past 31 years. I am blessed to have been here for 1 of those years, and I look forward to many more years to come.

2.  Amongst all of the experiences you’ve had since starting at Champions, which is your favorite story you can share with us?

I have to say that it’s not just one story, but a collage of experiences that happen every day. These experiences bring out the best of human nature and leave a lasting impact. However, one of the most touching student memories that stands out to me since I have been with CSRE is a student who moved here from Vietnam and decided to obtain her real estate license at our school. She was one of the kindest souls I have ever met. She lit up every room, and could make us all laugh. She was a wonderful student and a joy to have on campus. Every morning she would walk through the door and fill our halls with compliments, kind words, and hugs. English wasn’t her first language, however, and the Real Estate Exam did not come easy to her.

She ended up taking it 5 times before she passed, but she continued to look on the bright side and never gave up. She continued to study, stay positive, and utilize the resources available to her. When she finally passed both her State and National exam, she came up to the school with three big bags of Vietnamese cookies for my fellow Fort Worth Career Counselor, Wendy, our DFW Prep Class Instructor, Andy, and myself. She was all dressed up and even brought her husband with her, who was in a suit and tie. It is people like that who stand as a reminder and make you realize that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.  I truly believe the only disadvantage or disability in life is a bad attitude.

3.  Ok, finally – give me three things – little–known facts, random trivia, etc – that we’d be surprised to learn about you. :)

  • I lived in Mexico for 3 months when I was 8.
  • I visited Japan for 2 weeks when I was 14.
  • I studied abroad in Western Europe and the UK in college.
  • I am happy living in Texas, but traveling the world is my favorite pastime.
  • I hope to become fluent in Spanish very soon.
  • I was homeschooled until I was in 7th grade.
  • I am the second of 6 siblings.
