Henry Britt
Technical Writer
Houston Galleria Campus

1. We are so excited to have you at Champions – what is it about Champions School of Real Estate that drew you in to join our team?

  • I actually took the prelicensing classes back in the late 90s, so when Sherri told me Curriculum Development was hiring a new technical writer, I was extremely excited!  Especially once I found out the direction that Champions was heading…it’s a very exciting time to be working here!

2. Tell us a little bit about your background and what brought you to your new role at Champions.

  • My background is extremely varied!  Started out in journalism, editing the local newspaper in Magnolia, TX.  From there, I went into regulatory consulting in the oil and gas industry.  After several years writing federally-mandated response plans for oil and gas facilities, I left to start my own business.  For 4 years I did freelance publication and regulatory consulting.  In 2011, I shuttered the business and went back into the corporate world, signing on with a manufacturing firm to do operational planning.  And now, here I am at Champions!

3. Ok, finally – give me three things – little–known facts, random trivia, etc – that we’d be surprised to learn about you.

  • I am a classically trained singer
  • Football fanatic (GO CHIEFS!),
  • Something of an expert on English history (especially the Plantagenet kings).
  • Oh, and I write a lot of fiction, horror and science fiction, mostly.

  • I have a Master’s Degree in Distance Education from the University of Maryland, and I  was team lead for developing training on mobile devices for the US Army ( a program called Army Learning Method 2015), and I have worked on mLearning or eLearning projects with Phillips 66, the US Marine Corp, the US Air Force, UAE Air Force and the Ministry of Interior for Saudi Arabia.

3. Ok, finally – give me three things – little–known facts, random trivia, etc – that we’d be surprised to learn about you.

  • I was featured on the front cover of Colorado’s Fishing and Hunting News while going to High School in 1980
  • I am a former paratrooper and I have spent time working in S.Korea, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, Suriname, Iraq, UAE and Saudi Arabia
  • I was a Lift Operator at Deer Valley Ski Resort in Utah from 1990-91 while attending school where I would talk occasionally with Cheech Marin who had a house there and Danny Devito and his daughter who skied there every year.

Online Shipping & Chat Coordinator

Dallas North Campus

1. We are so excited to have you at Champions – what is it about Champions School of Real Estate that drew you in to join our team?

  •  I began working at Champions in Plano part time while completing a degree in Business Management with a minor in International Business. After almost 3 years with the company, I was offered the opportunity to join Champions full-time as the Online Shipping and Counseling Coordinator. I gladly accepted the offer and could not be more happy to be a part of the Champions family.

2. Tell us a little bit about your background and what brought you to your new role at Champions.

  • Before joining Champions, I worked in the restaurant industry and wasn’t happy. My dad (Roy Carter – Statewide Director of Inspector Education) mentioned a part time position open at Champions. I met with Kim and started working with Data Entry, helping update all of the undeliverable emails. After I came back from my maternity leave in August of this year I was offered a Full time position. What a blessing it has been for me and my family!

3. Ok, finally – give me three things – little–known facts, random trivia, etc – that we’d be surprised to learn about you.

  • I don’t like Christmas music – sounds kind of crazy, I know, but some songs drive me crazy!
  • I was a competitive cheerleader/ 5 time national champion and have had 3 knee surgeries.
  • I love strawberry sour belts from Candy World in the mall.
  • Proud mom to 2 gorgeous girls, Valery (8) and Ella (almost 1!)

Career Counselor

Dallas North Campus

1. We are so excited to have you at Champions – what is it about Champions School of Real Estate that drew you in to join our team?

  • I was referred by Career Counselor, Megan Deaton, a childhood friend. She always had such great things to say about her job at Champions and all of the great people she worked with. I had researched going to Champions to get my real estate license prior to being hired and found great reviews online and great awards Champions had won. I knew at that point that this was a great company do be a part of and was very interested in joining the team!

2. Tell us a little bit about your background and what brought you to your new role at Champions.

  • I have a strong background as an Executive Assistant and Director of Operations. My past job experience has taught me how to multi-task in ways I never knew possible and meet others needs when the request seemed impossible. Operations taught me how to manage daily tasks of a company, manage the employees and insure their jobs were done correctly while making sure we were meeting our vendors expectations. After being laid off, I was hired by Champions. I have used my customer service background, multi-tasking abilities and my ability to manage many daily tasks in every aspect of my  job as a Career Counselor.

3. Ok, finally – give me three things – little–known facts, random trivia, etc – that we’d be surprised to learn about you.

  • I am terrified of fish! After a horrific snorkeling trip in the Cayman Islands I have been terrified to be in the ocean and near fish since.
  • I am an artist- I paint with oil and acrylics. I enjoy charcoal drawings and anything that has to do with interior design/decorating.
  • I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising with a minor in Business.
